A Non-Surgical And Effective Solution For Obesity Management

With the development of society, more and more people are overweight due to work pressure, irregular work and rest, bad eating habits, etc. Obesity is becoming one of the most pressing global health concerns, with rates steadily increasing across many countries. Among the many weight loss interventions available, the intragastric balloon has emerged as a safe, temporary, and effective non-surgical solution for patients struggling with excess weight.

At ZKSK Medical, we are proud to offer the Walos Intragastric Balloon System, a clinically engineered device designed to support weight loss by reducing gastric capacity and promoting early satiety. This system is especially suited for patients who are not candidates for bariatric surgery or who prefer a reversible intervention.

What is the Intragastric Balloon?

The Walos Intragastric Balloon is a soft, expandable balloon that is inserted into the stomach via endoscopy and then filled with 400–700 ml of sterile saline, along with a small amount of methylene blue for leak detection. Once deployed, the balloon partially fills the stomach, limiting the amount of food intake and creating a sensation of fullness after smaller meals.

This device is a temporary solution, generally left in place for up to 12 months, and is designed to support patients as they begin to adopt healthier lifestyle habits.

Two Model Options

We offer two product types tailored to individual clinical needs:

Standard Type (ZKBALL-01): Non-adjustable, pre-filled volume between 400–700 ml.

Regulating Type (ZKBALL-02): Adjustable version that allows volume modulation during follow-up procedures to enhance patient comfort and clinical outcomes.

Who is it for?

1. Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30–40

2. Motivation and commitment to follow a medically supervised lifestyle program

3. No history of prior gastric or esophageal surgery

4. Willingness to attend regular follow-ups and behavioral therapy

A thorough pre-procedure evaluation is conducted to determine eligibility, ensuring the safety and appropriateness of the treatment.

Procedure: Minimally Invasive, Maximum Impact

The balloon is placed in the stomach during a short outpatient endoscopic procedure, which generally does not require hospitalization. After filling the balloon with sterile saline and methylene blue, patients are observed for a few hours and then discharged.

The removal procedure is also endoscopic and scheduled 12 months after insertion.

Postoperative Guidelines: Key to Success

Successful outcomes depend not only on the device but also on adherence to post-placement lifestyle recommendations, including:

Eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and use smaller portions.
Stop eating if feeling bloated or experiencing acid reflux.
Hydrate adequately – at least 1.5 liters of water per day.
Avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol, caffeine, and smoking.
Engage in daily physical activity, such as walking 15+ minutes.

Do not eat within 2 hours of bedtime.

These behavioral changes, supported by the balloon, create a valuable window for long-term habit formation.

As obesity rates rise worldwide, we believe solutions like the Walos Intragastric Balloon can offer meaningful support to patients and providers alike. It is particularly valuable in regions where surgical infrastructure is limited or where patients seek a less invasive approach to weight loss.
