What Is ERCP And ERCP Products?

What is ERCP?

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a technique that uses a combination of endoscopy and fluoroscopy to diagnose and treat certain problems with the bile duct or pancreatic duct system. Mainly performed by well-trained and professionally trained gastroenterologists. Through an endoscope, doctors can see inside the stomach and duodenum and inject contrast material into the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts to show them on X-rays.

ERCP is used primarily to diagnose and treat diseases of the bile duct and main pancreatic duct, including gallstones, inflammatory strictures (scarring), leaks (from trauma and surgery), and cancer. ERCP can be performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic reasons, although magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and endoscopic ultrasound is developing, it is now rarely performed without therapeutic purposes. ERCP is performed under the circumstances.

When should you choose ERCP treatment?

ERCP can be indicated in diagnostic scenarios when any of the following are required:

*Endoscopic sphincterotomy of the sphincter of Oddi

*Extraction of gallstones or other bile debris

*A stent is inserted through the major duodenal papilla and ampulla of Vater into the common bile duct and/or pancreatic duct
