Depending on the grade, quantity, and length of the esophageal varices, a different number of bands may also be necessary. The most of commercially available multiband ligators contain seven bands. If less than six bands are required, this results in band waste. Moreover, patients who needed more than six bands would require multiple ligator sets and repeated scope insertions.
